In anticipation of significant snowfall this week, here are some important details about the ReThink9 snow plan.
VDOT will pre-treat area roads and will be responsible for snow removal on local and regional routes, including our local detour.
IN THE EVENT OF SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS, REGIONAL COMMUTERS ARE URGED TO USE THE FOUR-LANE REGIONAL DETOUR.
IF POSSIBLE STAY AT HOME DURING SEVERE SNOW CONDITIONS. IF YOU MUST BE OUT, PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY.
Regarding travel through the Hillsboro ReThink9 Work Zone within the Town of Hillsboro:
- The Town is responsible for snow removal within the work zone.
- Charles Town Pike will be plowed for one-lane eastbound morning traffic by 4 a.m. Mondays through Fridays and for one-lane westbound traffic on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and one-lane westbound on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- The work zone will be closed to through traffic each Monday through Friday after 9:30 a.m.
- The Town will coordinate with Loudoun County Fire and Rescue and law enforcement to ensure emergency access into and through the work zone. In the event of extreme conditions, law enforcement determines if and when the road is opened to through traffic.
