Route 9: Expect Delays

Thursday, April 2 – Sunday, April 5

As a result of extensive water main leaks within the Town of Hillsboro requiring emergency repairs, there will be extended flagging operations with single-lane alternating traffic on Route 9 starting Thursday, April 2 through Sunday, April 5.

During this emergency water system repair, we have authorized extended day and evening work, beginning at 7 a.m. each day until early evening hours through the weekend.
Motorists should anticipate delays and are encouraged to avoid the area.

Currently, preparations for Eastern roundabout construction at the intersection of Rt. 9 and Rt. 690, and for the Western roundabout at Rt. 9 and Rt. 719, are under way.

Stony Point Road:

  • Stony Point Rd. may have limited flagging operations near the Rt. 9 intersection as crews begin building a retaining wall in preparation for construction of the Western roundabout.

Route 9—Ongoing Work:

  • Verizon and ReThink9 construction crews are in the process of temporary relocation of utility poles and pulling wires along Rt. 9 between Mountain Rd. and Hillsboro Rd.
  • Erosion control barriers will be installed along the north side of Rt. 9 between Rt. 690 (Hillsboro Rd.) and Mountain Rd.
  • Temporary relocation of the traffic signal controls at Rt. 9 / Rt. 690 will cause limited traffic signal outages at the intersection, requiring law enforcement to direct traffic, expected in early April.
