Travel Safely Through Greater Hillsboro
Route 9 within the Town of Hillsboro is now Closed—Take Regional and Local Detours.
Please drive safely on the detours and stay alert for the safety of workers, residents and fellow motorists.
Stony Point Road (Rt. 719) at Route 9
Flagging operations will be required at the Route 9 / Stony Point Road (Rt. 719) intersection for the installation of underground utilities. Motorists should expect delays, with alternating single-lane travel.
FRIDAY, JULY 10 and WEEK OF JULY 13—8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
SATURDAY, JULY 11—7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Use the Regional Detour. Motorists beginning or ending their trips west of the Shenandoah River are encouraged to follow the designated Regional detour, using Route 340 and Route 7 to avoid the work zone and avoid delays.
Reminder: Cider Mill Restrictions are in effect. Cider Mill Road—which is not part of the Hillsboro Local Detour— will continue to be frequently patrolled by law enforcement who will be enforcing the speed limit and other VDOT roadway restrictions, including:
- LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY
- No Right Turn from Route 9
- No Left Turn from Woodgrove Road
As all construction work schedules change hourly and daily, the work may end earlier than planned each day due to heat or bad weather for the safety of the workers.
Stony Point and Woodgrove Roads
Beginning THURSDAY, JULY 9, VDOT will begin shoulder repairs on sections of Stony Point and Woodgrove Roads. Motorists may find single-lane flagging operations for several days. Please have patience when driving through the area.
The Town of Hillsboro appreciates the quick response by VDOT to its request for these shoulder repairs along the Hillsboro Local Detour.
